I was lucky to work with this gorgeous kit this month. I love red, white and blue together and the papers in this kit from Cherry Art and Jillibean Soup were so pretty. This LO is of my great niece Lexie. She is a really sweet kid, very shy and quiet and getting her to even pose for a photo is hard. I was playing around with the zoom and my camera and shot this of her on Memorial Day - the fact that she had on a star necklace and the Jenni Bowlin Bingo card said "Star" was my sign to use the photo for this LO. I traced a big star and cut it out and used it for the photomat - added some other elements and painted the chipboard with Distress Paint - which was a nice finishing touch as the papers look slightly distressed. In keeping with the Memorial Day theme, Erica posted a Freaky Friday challenge in the ACBailey newsletter to do a layout using a sketch and photos from Memorial Day weekend. It was beautiful here on Long Island that weekend and I was busy the entire time. The kraft paper was a great background for the distressed look of the papers. I inked up and sanded the chipboard alphas and used photos of the events that I attended that weekend - the Air Show at Jones Beach, two Parades where some of my grandkids marched with the Scouts. Stay tuned for the next Freaky Friday Challenge coming up in a few days.
Until then,
Happy Scrappin'
Dee
